Privacy Policy

Last updated: 06/30/2026

Narratus (“Narratus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website getnarratus.com and the Narratus desktop application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using our website or application, you agree to the practices described here.

This policy is operated by Narratus.com.

Our privacy-first approach to your recordings

Narratus is built so that your screen recordings and video files never leave your computer. When you process a recording, all video and image processing happens locally on your own machine. Only the extracted audio track is transmitted to our transcription provider so that your narration can be converted to text. We never receive, store, or have access to your video footage, screenshots, or the resulting SOP documents — those remain on your device under your control.

Information we collect

Account and billing information. When you purchase a subscription, we collect your name, email address, and billing details. Payments are processed by Stripe and our store runs on WooCommerce; we do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Stripe handles card data directly and is PCI-DSS compliant. We retain order records, the email associated with your account, your plan tier, and your license status.

License and activation data. To enforce subscription terms, Narratus generates a license key tied to your account. When you activate the application, we collect a device identifier (used to bind your license to your authorized devices), your plan tier, and usage counts such as the number of processing runs and active seats. This lets us apply your plan’s seat and run limits. We do not collect the contents of anything you process.

Audio for transcription. As described above, when you process a recording, the audio track is sent to our transcription provider (OpenAI Whisper) solely to produce a transcript. This audio is processed transiently for transcription and is not used by us to build a profile of you.

Support information. If you open a support ticket through our helpdesk, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, email address, activation key, application version, and plan tier, along with the contents of your message. We use this only to respond to and resolve your request.

Website and technical data. Like most websites, getnarratus.com may collect standard log and device information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use cookies for essential site functionality, your shopping cart and checkout, and to remember preferences. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to provide and operate the Narratus application and website; process payments and manage your subscription; generate and validate license keys and enforce plan limits; transcribe submitted audio; respond to support requests; send service-related communications such as receipts, license details, and account notices; detect and prevent fraud or abuse; and meet our legal and accounting obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share your data with

We share data only with service providers who help us operate, and only to the extent needed: Stripe for payment processing; OpenAI for converting submitted audio to text via its Whisper transcription service; our email and hosting providers for delivering messages and running the site; and our helpdesk software for managing support tickets. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.

How long we retain your data

We retain account, billing, and license records for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed to comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. Support tickets are retained for as long as needed to provide support and maintain a service history. Audio submitted for transcription is processed transiently and is not retained by us as a permanent record. You may request deletion of your personal data as described below, subject to records we are legally required to keep.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have similar rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below and we will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. You can also manage your subscription and account details directly from your account, and unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and our core design — keeping your video on your own machine — substantially limits the data we ever handle. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

Narratus is intended for business and professional use and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International users

If you access Narratus from outside the country where our service providers operate, your information may be transferred to and processed in other countries, including the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your own.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the website or by email where appropriate.
